There are a significant amount of organizations throughout the United States that truly commit themselves to helping out local communities and those in need. There is compassion involved when a group of individuals and organizations pull together to give time and charity for the needy. Some may need medical assistance for their conditions which are life-threatening in most cases. The disease known as ALS which is commonly known as the Lou Gehrig's disease has extremely devastating conditions. ALS can claim lives and does every single day. Local football legend and ALS patient Steve Gleason had been diagnosed and has received much support from the city of New Orleans. His foundation the "Gleason Foundation "was established with the intent of helping those with Lou Gehrig's disease and creating fundraising charities for medical equipment and technology research which is much needed. Since it was started there has been great motions of progress to help treat muscular diseases and neuro- injury.

Being the chief executive officer of St. Margaret's he has had the experience firsthand with the Gleason House program by attending local events in New Orleans. He realizes the research and charity gives a great deal of much-needed hope and sees a great potential in its cause.
